Course Policies

Makeup Exams:
a) In order to be allowed to take a make-up exam, the student must have a legitimate reason for having missed the exam. All make-up exams will be scheduled within one week of the missed exam.
b) It is the student’s responsibility to request a make-up exam.
c) No student, regardless of the reason, may take more that one make-up exam.
Attendance:
You are encouraged to attend regularly. All homework assignments are to be turned in at the beginning of class on the due date. 5 points will be deducted for each day late for 10 point assignments and 10 points will be deducted for assignments worth more than 10 points when late. If you know that you will be out, you may turn in your assignments early and no pop tests will be given late, therefore attendance is very important. There is a direct correlation between class success and class attendance. Students must attend 80% of the class meetings. Absences are counted from the first day of class, not the first day that the student attends. It is very important that you attend class for a scheduled test due to the strict make-up policy. Course Policy: To be successful in this class, you should attend class regularly, take notes during class, study and practice assigned problems. If you are having trouble or receiving a failing grade, please come to my office to discuss the problem. Remember that help is available, but you must take the initial step. At the first sign of trouble, DON’T HESITATE to come for help. Don’t fall behind or wait until it’s too late because math work is cumulative. Each math concept that we learn builds from others. It is extremely difficult to catch up once you have fallen behind. If you cannot see me during my office hours, please let me know so that we can schedule a time to meet.
Additional Policies:
NO tobacco products of any type allowed in the classroom. Students must adhere to the university policy for academic honesty as specified in the JSU STUDENT HANDBOOK. All Students are expected to attend class fully prepared with appropriate materials and all devices which make noise turned to the off position (e.g., cellular phones, pagers, personal stereos, etc.). Any student behavior deemed disruptive by the professor will result in expulsion of the student from the classroom, with an absence for the day and possible disciplinary action. Students who have qualified for DSS services should contact the instructor immediately.
The following is a Disability Accommodation statement: According to Public Law 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, Jacksonville State University will provide reasonable access and appropriate accommodations for otherwise qualified disabled students. If you need such access or accommodations, please consult with your professor immediately.
